About The Project

Originally approached by the Diocese of Guildford to consider more efficient use of land assets, The Property Partnership proposed a combined scheme with a new purpose-built Vicarage combined with an apartment scheme to enable the funding of the new Vicarage building. This proposal met with resistance from the local authority planning department and eventually a larger apartment scheme was consented to without a Vicarage.

It was important to the Diocese that the design and consideration of the local community were carefully considered, and this has been reflected in the design of the new scheme. The project, from concept to commencement of construction, was undertaken during COVID19 lockdown restrictions. A testament to teamwork, adaptability and working in true partnership with a collaborative landowner.

The Solution

We worked closely alongside the Diocese with our Architects to ensure what we produced was in keeping with the Diocese's goals, with a major consideration for the local community. Together, we designed a modern yet classical looking property, with the aim to use modern materials and technology to improve the environment of the inhabitants, as well as the planet. The design utilises: air source heat pumps, underfloor heating, smart thermostats, car chargers, large timber windows, modern insulation, roof lights. We also included these wildlife friendly features: bird boxes, bee bricks, hedgehog runs, insect hotels, and bee friendly plants.
